Since a few weeks my server trinityhome.org got a faulty ftp service. Wu-ftpd accepted connections, asked for a password but then hung permanently.

Why? I still don ‘t know why, but I know by what it was caused: the removal of the floppy drive!!! (I needed the slot u c)
But WTF does a floppy have to do with an ftp server? I found out about it by running the ftp service in debug mode, which revealed that the kernel sent each time an I/O error on the none existing floppy drive. Why does a network program like wu-ftpd look for a floppy? All other programs were working fine.
Beats me, but I remember that Speedster won ‘t boot from a SCSI cdrom drive if no floppy is present, also a stupid relation.
