Note: If it asks to forcemount, say yes, but DO NOT DISABLE SYSKEY.

Interactive Mode

1. Type 'winpass -i'
This will enter the interactive mode of winpass with the default [1] Edit user data and passwords selected.

2. Just press <Enter> to select 1. Edit user data and passwords.
This will list the users of the computer, with the default administrator selected. It might first ask you to confirm the partition containing "Windows/2K/XP installation(s) found in: 1: /device_name/Windows. Just press <Enter>

3. Press <Enter> to select the default administrator, or type in different user's name, then press <Enter>
This will list all the properties of said user, including if it is an administrator and if it's locked/disabled.

4. Type '1' and <Enter> to clear the password.

5. Now follow the prompts to exit. Type '!' then <Enter>, next 'q' then <Enter>.
It will tell you a back-up has been made, and drop you back into the root prompt. Your work is done.

6. Type 'shutdown -r now' to reboot into Windows and log in with your now-blank password.

P.S. I will probably edit this post to be more detailed (even though I think it's more than enough) on Tuesday afternoon when I have more spare time so I can walk myself through it and copy word for word, instead of from memory.

I cleared my password for XP but when I tried to logon, XP does not recognize my cleared password. Is tehre a way to create a new user with TRK, set a password for them?

By default winpass takes the built-in "administrator" account to reset. Have you run 'winpass -u "your username"'?

You probably have a corrupt NTFS. Run chkdsk first. You can trigger it by running 'ntfsfix /dev/sda1' in TRK first and then let it boot into Windows.

Though I had to read this a few times. It did work and now I have full control of my OWN computer. LoL! (A story in itself). But, again. Thanks for the commands, etc.
